2017 Total Solar Eclipse

This was a day to remember.  So much hype and we had no idea what to expect.

Very special moment shared in our own backyard with the one I love. It was not something we planned out and the unexpected time together witnessing what turned out to be incredible was an awesome moment I will never forget.  It felt like time stood still as we witnessed the total solar eclipse.

I never really thought about keeping the girls home from school but as I was taking them to school I was hoping I made the right choice.  Again I was unsure what to expect and I felt the girl would each learn so much more being in the learning environments geared towards their level of learning. In this parenting choice I was so right.  The schools went all out and the all 3 of the older girls were able to inform me of what happened and as they witnessed the moment they were so aware of what they were seeing.  I am afraid if I kept them at home they would have been more focused on playing to really understand what was taking place.

OLLIS had each class outside for the hour leading up to it covering lessons geared toward their year level.

Observing the history on the Trinity playground.

Miss Huggins had so many great lessons that she covered that day and in the end M & M both understood what was taking place.

Matilda loved the glasses and came home hours later still wearing them.

Ended the day with a "moon" cake aka chocolate cake from our neighbors. Trudy did miss the eclipse because of her nap time but at her age it was better she got her rest.   It was a great day!!
